Give Through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program

The Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program offers a powerful way for businesses—and in some cases individuals—to support innovative educational opportunities for K-12 students across Pennsylvania while receiving significant state tax credits. Through EITC, donors can direct a portion of their Pennsylvania tax liability to approved nonprofit organizations like CISPA, helping expand access to enrichment opportunities that enhance students’ learning beyond the traditional classroom.

How the EITC Program Works

The EITC program provides state tax credits to eligible contributors who donate to approved Educational Improvement Organizations (EIOs), like CISPA. These contributions directly fund programs that enhance the academic experience through enrichment opportunities such as STEM learning, arts education, career exploration, and hands-on programs that extend beyond the school day.

Tax Credit Benefits

Most contributions earn a 75% tax credit, which may be increased to 90% when the donor commits to the same contribution amount for two consecutive years.

Businesses may receive credits up to $750,000 annually, depending on contribution type and commitment.

Donors may also qualify for a federal tax deduction on the remaining portion of their gift.

These tax credits reduce Pennsylvania tax liability dollar‑for‑dollar, making EITC one of the most impactful ways to support innovative, student-centered programs in your community while maximizing your tax benefit.

Who Can Participate?

Eligible Businesses

Businesses authorized to operate in Pennsylvania and subject to various state business taxes—including corporate net income tax, personal income tax, bank shares tax, insurance premium tax, and others—may apply. More information can be found here.

Individuals via Special Purpose Entities (SPEs)

Individuals cannot apply directly but may participate by joining a Special Purpose Entity (SPE), which passes tax credits to individual members. CISPA has partnered with Friends of Education K-12 to serve individual donors interested in giving through the EITC program.  More information can be found here.
